Overview

North Kolkata aka Sutanuti is the older half of this vibrant and muddled city, North Kolkata is sprinkled with century-old buildings, allied by a zigzag of hundreds of narrow lanes, out of sight courtyards of merchants and noble houses. Our walk for the day begins in the bustling bylanes of North Kolkata, we pass by WC Banerjee house –an Indian barrister and was the first president of Indian National Congress. We shall then pay a brief visit to the Anant Nath deb Bazar. We explore the small streets and bylanes, hidden courtyards of merchants and old mansions with colonial inspired homes come to life in front of our eyes. We then stroll through the heartbeat of the old city to get a glimpse into the history of the legendary Chhatu Babu Latu Babu Thakurbari (Mansion), we pass by the twin shiva temples. Our walk then proceeds to take you on a journey of discovery through the humble and quaint surroundings exploring as well as the remarkable visual of the shovabazar Raj Bari of Nabakrishna Deb who was the first Talukdar of Sutanuti.
